description: computer science education week (csedweek) is an annual call to action to inspire k-12 students to learn computer science, advocate for equity in computer science education, and celebrate the contributions of students, teachers, and partners to the field. i organized a team from the human computer integration lab to teach a series of workshops to students as part of this event. we ultimately taught an introductory game building workshop using p5, which included a fun warmup activity in html. over the course of an hour, students got to build their own versions of flappy bird. to increase accessibility (as some students only had access to chicago school ipads), we created alternative exercises through the workshop that were ipad compatible, released online documentation and a how-to guide in case students got lost, and also made a youtube video walkthrough for anyone who wanted to continue on their own or weren't able to attend.
